Speakers:
– Dr. Gwendolyn Cazander (NL) is a vascular surgeon (MD, FEBVS) at Ikazia, Rotterdam, since 2016, and obtained her PhD on the underlying mechanisms of maggot therapy in wound healing (2010, VU, Amsterdam). Since 2020, she has been an organizing board member and treasurer of the International Symposium on Diabetic Foot (ISDF). As of 2024, she serves as the medical director of the healthcare company Eurocept, with the aim of improving national diabetic foot care and developing new diabetic foot clinics.

– Dr. Jaap van Netten (NL) works as senior researcher and academic clinical at Amsterdam UMC, the Netherlands, and holds a position as adjunct associate professor at QUT, Brisbane, Australia. As a human movement scientist, Dr. van Netten specializes in clinical research on foot disease. Specifically the interplay between biomechanics and the behavior in the prevention of foot ulcers and amputation. This includes real-life and laboratory gait and activity analyses, communication strategies, footwear optimization and e-health solutions for disease detection and behavior changes.

– Prof. Dr. Frances Game (UK) is the Clinical Director of R&D and the Derby Clinical Trials Support Unit, and Honorary Professor at the University of Nottingham. With a main clinical and research interest in Diabetic Foot, she has lead a number of multicentre/multinational trials in the field. She is the current Clinical Lead for the National Diabetes Footcare Audit of England and Wales.

– Dr. Joel Lasschuit (AU) aspires to improve outcomes of people with diabetes-related foot complications. He co-leads the High-Risk Foot Service at St. Vincent’s Hospital Sydney. Through his work as High-Risk Foot Service Database Manager, Dr. Lasschuit is establishing the Australian Diabetes HRFS Database, which has attracted interest from numerous services across Australia. The goal is to create a standardized data repository and enable national audits.
